Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond [ Official Music Video ]

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is a nine-part Pink Floyd composition written by Roger Waters, Richard Wright and David Gilmour. It is a tribute to former band member Syd Barrett. The song was first performed on their 1974 French tour, and recorded for their 1975 concept album Wish You Were Here. The song was intended to be a side-long composition (like "Atom Heart Mother" and "Echoes"), but was ultimately split into two parts and used to bookend the album, with new material composed that was more relevant to this song, and to the situation in which the band found themselves. | /> Lyrics: Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. You were caught in the cross fire of childhood and stardom. Blown on the steel breeze. Come on you target for faraway laughter. Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine! You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon. Shine on you crazy diamond. Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light. Shine on you crazy diamond. Well you wore out your welcome with random precision. Rode on the steel breeze. Come on you raver, you seer of visions. Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Hold on to this! as I am listening to this! one year previous of this song 1977 to be exact! I lay in a traction board with my neck broken in four places, one year later with two friends we are on a hill top over looking the city lights in a huge massive field with a blue moon in full landscape above our heads at two o'clock in the morning with this song playing on the car stereo, as we are playing frisbee in the middle of this field under a full blue moon! All for real! Totally religious experience! Who wouldn't! This is priceless to me! Thank You!
S-hine On Y-ou Crazy D-iamond = Syd as in Syd Barret. Coincidence? I think not.
Pink floyd isn't just music, it's an experience.

I feel so sad because now, teens don't appreciate nice music. No one searches to find a kind of music fitting their personality. I am a teen and my parents thankfully taught me what good music means, buy no one in my age shows interest in that music, saying that it's old or not trendy. I wish young people appreciated the real music more... We must not let this spirit die!!!

I can hear this song for the rest of my life and it will always be like the first time.
Pink Floyd is a total experience. Not just something you put on. It’s hard to explain what it does to you but changes you forever.

I started late with Pink Floyd, I was late-20s. I am now 61. I was a teenager loving Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath etc. Then someone turned me on to Floyd (and REAL acid) a few years later. I still feel humble and "hairs up on the back of my neck" when I listen to Floyd. Remember when you were young?
I'm 13 years old, and pink floyd are my favourite group...i love theese songs

The heartbreaking story of Syd Barrett
This song holds an incredible spot in my heart. I remember being very young and watching my mom dance and spin around the living room and kitchen listening to this as loud as our living room speakers could push it. Cleaning and enjoying herself with a Joint in hand. Then of course, the lyrics would come. And she would sing like it was her last breath on earth. I miss her dearly to this day, and every time I hear this song, I can see her once more enjoying life as it unfolded in front of her. Taking on every obstacle, like nothing was too big. Honestly makes me cry nearly every time. Shine on, Momma. You crazy, crazy diamond.
Just cried while playing these drums and screaming the lyrics

While the grateful dead, Jim hendrix, led Zeppelin, black sabbath, the Beatles and countless other bands was doing the "never ending, ending" pink floyd was doing the always starting, starting. Followed with a masterpiece, then ending with a "never wish it would end" ending.

One day when I was 5-6 years old, my mom woke me up with The dark side of the moon. It was 30 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. It's the best gift she gave to me after life.

Now im 25 years old. I discovered Pink Floyd two years ago. I asked my father "do u have some Pink Floyd cd's?" He got every single, every album. Im in heaven.

My favorite.
Saw them perform this in Nassau Coliseum, L.I. They had a huge spinning mirrored panel that rose from behind them on stage. When the spotlights were turned on it, it was a blizzard of light beams. When it finally slowed and then stopped, it was like you were out in the middle of the Milky Way. Just breathtaking.

At that period, everybody else in the world composed some sort of music...Pink Floyd were creating something that was from another planet, universe or galaxy...still we are not in a position to understand it, we have just been listening to their music for decades now, feeling that we travel in space and time every single time!
This is so good it will heal all your wounds and leave you feeling just gureato.
I`m started listening Pink Floyd when i was 21 I`m 22 now... Time runs so quick nowdays!

Pink Floyd has been in my life even before I was born. I am about to turn 36 and they are still my number 1. Sad to say I never saw them live. I swear if I close my eyes, I can picture those summer afternoons, back in the 90's, when my dad would put this album on the stereo, out loud so the neighbours could experience real music as well. He would lay on the couch, close his eyes and just listen. And I would do that too. I really miss those moments we had, just the two of us, listening to Floyd. I really miss you, dad. I hope you know that.
I truly hope you found peace Syd you were truly a diamond. <3

Its not necessary to brag about liking the song/knowing it. Why not brag well done it is. Also- why do you comment the lyrics?? Like really that's dumb as hell 😂
They will always command a place in the history of music, its just the way it is.
Matthew Barrows
I was fortunate enough to see them in 74. I was 12 & it was my 1st live concert. They opened with this then played the complete Dark Side of the Moon, then the second part of Shine on as their encore. Simply put, I was absolutely mesmerized. I barely moved a muscle I was so enthralled. Since, I have seen countless gigs with the best of the best but Pink Floyd still stands out in my world as one of the best & most memorable.
