Orion Molaro
even in 2018 this song is still beautiful
I really miss the 90s. Things were so awesome. Music was timeless classic then.

I was 20 years old in 1979, I heard this song when I turned 40 (midlife crisis) and thought about 1979 and how simple it was. Now at 60 I listen to it and only feel FREE from the struggles of my past. Great song in the never ending circle. 1995-1999 had some of the best music, much better than the 60s.

What a song, always makes me smile
my vlogs me
who is listening to this in 2018

This is probably the ONLY YouTube video I've seen so far that captures teen angst perfectly without resorting to clichés or excessive sentimentality. And the song's so light, melodic, and spacey that it would fit perfectly on a Blur or Oasis album. Even without the video, the song is fantastic.
3:12 when the bass plays again <3

Let D'Arcy join the band on the reunion tour Billy!!!!

Reminds me of summer.
Probably the only black kid listening to this in my environment growing up... such simple times.

It's crazy how even the chord progression just sounds like nostalgia

Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time On a live wire right up off the street You and I should meet June bug skipping like a stone With the headlights pointed at the dawn We were sure we'd never see an end to it all And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues And we don't know just where our bones will rest To dust I guess Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below Double cross the vacant and the bored They're not sure just what we have in the store Morphine city slippin' dues, down to see that We don't even care, as restless as we are We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts And poured cement, lamented and assured To the lights and towns below Faster than the speed of sound Faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope Justine never knew the rules Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls No apologies ever need be made I know you better than you fake it, to see And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues And we don't know just where our bones will rest To dust I guess Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below The street heats the urgency of sound As you can see there's no one around Songwriters: William Patrick Corgan 1979 lyrics © Universal Music Publishing Group, Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd.

Qué buenos tiempos aquellos mediados de los 90s con grupos cómo radiohead, blur, prodigy, placebo, mansun, garbage, primal scream, the chemical b... Cómo se echa de menos aquel nivel musical.... 😓
This reminds me of growing up as a teenager in the 90s, this literally was the soundtrack to my youth. I use to go to house parties like the one in this video :)

🤗😍bom saudades meus tempos , 1996
Back when mainstream music still involved...yknow... Musicians
This song and video are both brilliant. Born from innocence and mischief. Youth and the loss of youth. The eternal now and also the fleeting impermanence of life. Every time I watch this I glean something new from it.
We need more summer feel good vibes it’s got a magic nostalgia to it
One of my favorite songs from GTA IV on Liberty Rock Radio

Suburban dirt bag teenage shenanigans, perfectly encapsulated. My time was the early 90s, at the sunset of this particular type of lifestyle. The internet and cell phones changed everything, and this level of unchecked chaos fell away. For those who've lived it, it was glorious and terrible. Everyone knows of a "Justine" who was devoured by it. Ours was hit by a train while trying to hop on it.
B*tch It's Me
This song is 38 years old today.

Really makes me think of highschool, where the Mondays sucked and the Fridays were the best..... sometimes you don't realize how much fun you're having until after it passes.

I’m 17, and I’m often sad of how my life is lonely, sad, and boring. I barely have friends. I wish I had friends like those in the video. Whenever I listen to this song, I get melancholy 😔 of how my teen life is going out quickly and not enjoying life like in the video. Who feels me?
natural creativity
I remember in 2013 i used to have this app called spray can on my iPod Touch, and i used to talk to this girl named (smashingpumpkinschick) and she introduced me to this band. I haven’t heard from her since then but it would be pretty crazy if i ever met up with her some time again.
Fernando Marinho
Tandandandandan Êh!

It’s taken me 22yrs to hear the real brilliance here. FML

I'm the turd sitting in the shower kissing his girlfriend. We were extras and the director saw us cuddling by craft services and asked us to be in that scene. It was only the 2nd time we'd kissed. I also started that pit in the living room because i didn't really like the Smashing Pumpkins at the time. I liked minor threat and opp ivy and we had to shoot that living room scene for over 5 hours. Billy Coorgan yelled "we don't like mosh pits at our shows and we don't want them in our videos". Everyone froze like kids being reprimanded by the principal. It's completely surreal to see this video 20 years later. Still close friends with her and we revisited the video the other day. Such a great song!!
Lucia Alonso
I fucking love this song and literally discovered it yesterday. You have no idea how much I wish I could listen to this with my friends, but they don’t like this kind of music since I’m 13 lol
I’m the kid in the striped jumper (:
Cailyn Crockett
wasn't born during this gen, but for some reason i wish i was.
Frank Anderson This is a link to Billy performing his latest album. This video has almost 70 million views currently, while the video i linked to has less than 30 thousand at the moment. Come on pumpkins, you owe it to yourself to hear this new set of songs. I have felt the same frustration as many of you at the post-Machina work. However, this latest album, Ogilala, has some truly magical music on it. The record itself is even better than the live performance, which is beautiful. Give this set of songs a chance, and you will thank me later.
Dude, this song gives me such an intense feeling of longing. Like I really miss someone, but I don't know who it is.
I was born in 1979☆

Tomorrows nostalgia is today. Live life boys and girls.
James Smith
I'm so depressed. Nostalgia leads to introspection which leads to existential despair which leads to suicidal thoughts. I need a friend.

RIP to the kids who died in the high school shootings
2018 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This song was always haunting and nostalgic, but now... it's downright crushing.
Cool kids never have the time 😎

Im 52, remember walking into record store in '95 asking the employee for some hot groups, he pointed me to SP. End of story.

The sad thing w getting older is that the musicians you grew up idolizing start dying, then you reminisce the days you were young. That's what I felt w Dolores of the cranberries and chris cornell and I'm pretty sure I will also be sad if the time comes with Billy, eddie vedder and my other heroes.
bruce jenner
Billy Corgan been in chemotherapy.
The 90s feeling in this video and song it’s magical

I was born in 1979, I was a teenager when this song was released. I miss those years so much, my mom gave me Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness when I turned 16, and I would listen to the album every night... planning my future, wondering how my life would turn out to be...
Mark Riddell
This song always makes me happy. The only thing that could possibly make me sad about it is that today there and far less horizontal striped t-shirts. A return to that accord wound be good news

Still a classic, good times
