Thumbs up if you're listening to 1979 in 2019 -- 40 years later!

Message to any young folk. Your a kid for a very short time. The days, weeks, years seem to last forever but they really don't. Cherish this time, don't be in a hurry to grow up because adulthood sneaks up on you and lasts the rest of your life. Then those days you were an innocent kid seem like a distant memory. BTW, i was 10 in 1979 and remember the music and times.

i was born in 02, yet this song gives me a feeling of nostalgia, its weird.

One day people will look back on the '90s and realize that because it was the last decade without social media & without smart phones, that it was also the last decade when music really mattered to teenagers.
David Bixler
I just recently turned 18 and I'm realizing how quickly these years pass you by. Adult life is almost around the corner, and to me it feels like just yesterday I started high school. It's crazy and you really have to cherish these times while you have them.

Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time On a live wire right up off the street You and I should meet June bug skipping like a stone With the headlights pointed at the dawn We were sure we'd never see an end to it all And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues And we don't know just where our bones will rest To dust I guess Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below Double cross the vacant and the bored They're not sure just what we have in the store Morphine city slippin' dues, down to see that We don't even care, as restless as we are We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts And poured cement, lamented and assured To the lights and towns below Faster than the speed of sound Faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope Justine never knew the rules Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls No apologies ever need be made I know you better than you fake it, to see And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues And we don't know just where our bones will rest To dust I guess Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below The street heats the urgency of sound As you can see there's no one around

The 90s were the last batch of teens who lived 'off the grid'. When you did crazy things like they do in this video, nobody ever interrupted it with a phonecall or text. You had no compulsion to 'share' the moment on facebook or instagram, it was only shared with those who were there, and maybe with a story or two the following day. Yes, life off of the grid was fun.
Sophia Tacc
Wasn’t alive in the 90's but mad respect for this song 🤘🏻🥰

This song gives me such a strong feeling of nostalgia and sadness I don't know why but I feel so sad and alone when I hear this song. I feel like my very life is fleeting and all my memories are for nothing because I will never see the people I love again and they will never know how much they really mean to me. Good song 👌

I'm so depressed. Nostalgia leads to introspection which leads to existential despair which leads to suicidal thoughts. I need a friend.

>Born in 2001 >Grew up in the advanced technology age, become shut in and prefer tech over friends *Feels bad man* I wish I was born in the 80's, go to high school and be talkative, instead of nowadays shitty schools where all it is just blah blah, fortnite, blah blah, N-Word, blah blah, the whole nine yards. *You 90's kids had it better than my gen* But, thanks for reading. Happy new years, celebrate with your families. Don't become someone like me.
Angelo Maines
This song makes me think about only good things, and about when life had no complications. Which is what makes it happy and also sad because those good times seem to be over.
Jacob Griffith
Really makes me think of highschool, where the Mondays sucked and the Fridays were the best..... sometimes you don't realize how much fun you're having until after it passes.

As a graduating class of 1981, I swear, it felt exactly like this. We drove to a dead end in sunny California, drink a few beers, listen to punk rock, and wonder where life would lead us. (I joined the USAF, became a computer operator - a new and upcoming field. Afterwards, I became a senior business analyst for a major bank. I went thru a divorce, got a fat 401k, and a small dog. And thats it..thats what happened to the kids in this video. Or at least, to one of them. :D )
